Frequently Asked Questions

PPL Scoring and Format

How does PPL scoring differ to regular Pickleball scoring?

PPL uses a rally scoring format that means every point counts towards your score rather than only points won on serve. In PPL matches we also play first to 15 best of 3 sets instead of first to 11 best of 3 sets.

How does a team win a match?

There are 6 games in each match: mens/womens singles, mens/womens doubles and 2 mixed doubles games - whoever has the most wins at the end wins the overall match. If the match is tied at 3-3 then it is decided with dreambreaker.

What is the format of a dreambreaker?

Each captain chooses the order of their team 1-4 with 2 men and 2 women. Each person plays 4 singles points then rotates out for the next player. This keeps going until one team reaches 21 by 2 clear points.

What is the significance of the regular season and the PPL Finale?

Each team plays every other team twice during the regular season and gain 2 points for a win and 0 points for a loss. The finale is a knockout event where the top 2 teams during the regular season get a bye into the semi finals - but every team goes into the finale still with the chance to be crowned champions!
